About Desk

How Casinovian builds an editorial casino shortlist

Casinovian is a review and comparison site focused on licensed UK casino brands. We do not run games, process bets, or operate gambling accounts. Our job is narrower and more useful: study the way casino sites present themselves and explain what feels clear, fair, and easy to navigate.

What the editorial desk actually does

We review the structure around the games, not just the games themselves. That includes how a site introduces its bonuses, how visible the licensing cues are, how payment routes are explained, and whether safer-gambling tools are easy to locate before a player needs them. A flashy homepage is not enough. We want to see how the site behaves once the first click is over and the practical questions begin.

Our process is built around comparison. We line up brands side by side, track how their welcome offers are framed, and assess whether they communicate with plain language or rely on clutter. Sometimes the difference between a good casino site and a forgettable one is not the game count. It is the way information flows across the page and whether the user has to fight the layout to make sense of it.

What we do not do

Casinovian is not a gambling operator, not a bookmaker, and not a payment processor. We cannot open or manage casino accounts on behalf of users, and we do not resolve operator disputes directly. We also do not publish game strategy guides or systems that promise results. That kind of framing does not fit the way we approach gambling coverage.

Editorial independence and commercial reality

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If a reader follows one of those links and later registers with a featured brand, we may receive a commission. That arrangement supports the site, but it does not decide the review outcome on its own. A brand still has to earn its place through our editorial criteria. If a site feels confusing, hides essential information, or leaves too much friction in key account areas, we will say so.

Commercial relationships can create pressure if a site lets them. We try to remove that pressure by keeping the review framework visible and by writing with specifics instead of vague praise. A comparison page only has value when readers can see why one brand ranks higher than another.

How we use evidence

We examine visible site structure, offer wording, mobile usability, support access, payment clarity, and responsible-gambling visibility. We look for signals that a site was built to communicate well under real use, not just in a polished screenshot. We also revisit pages when promotions change or when a brand reshapes the path from homepage to cashier.

Safer gambling first

Every gambling review should make room for player welfare. We link to support organisations because they belong in the conversation, not because they decorate a footer well. If gambling is causing pressure, step away and use support services such as GAMSTOP, GamCare, BeGambleAware, or the National Gambling Helpline. The fastest decision is often the best one when a session stops feeling in control.
